“VINTAGE PORTS” ARE 25 YEARS YOUNG

June 2007

The Vintage Ports Rugby Golden Oldies are enjoying their 25th Anniversary this year since forming in 1983 to compete in the World Golden Oldies Rugby Festival in Sydney.

To celebrate this milestone the “Ports” have organised an Anniversary Dinner with invitations being sent to all Sydney1983 participants along with those who have attended festivals since at Christchurch,NZ 1995, Capetown ,S.A. 1998, Toulouse, France 2001, Brisbane,QLD 2003, San Diego,USA 2005, Wellington,NZ 2006 and those registered to attend the Edinburgh, Scotland festival in 2008.

All; players and supporters who have been involved with the club are also cordially invited and the organising committee look forward to hearing from anyone wishing to attend.

Details are as follows:
Date: Saturday 28th July 2007 at 6-30pm.
Venue: Westport Bowling Club, Buller Street. Port Macquarie.
Dress: Formal /Rugby Tie minimum-Ladies Evening wear.
Dinner: 3 course sit down with some complimentary wine .
Entertainment: 4 piece band.
Cost: $75 per head- which includes a commemorative Anniversary Club Tie for the men and a special bottle of “Vintage Port” for the ladies.

There will be a mini auction of the two jumpers that have been worn as Club jerseys during these 25 years.

The Country Comfort Motel in Buller Street is offering 30% discount off their standard rates (‘phone 65 832 955) and mention Westport Bowling Club.

Other dates for your diary are coming games as follows: 10/6/07 South West Rocks on June long weekend- Stay overnight on Sunday or day trip. 30/6/07 Wrinkled Horns at Oxley Oval, Port Macquarie as a preliminary to the Vikings/Pirates club fixtures. 21/7/07 Walcha Baa Baas at Walcha. Stay overnight and enjoy their legendary country hospitality but bring your winter woollies.

Registration fees are now due and $50 covers the Pirates social membership of $30 and the Ports $20 to cover administration costs and playing and public insurance liabilities. Registration forms are available from the committee.
